Fun with Ethan and Meghan

For three days last week, the kids and I enjoyed the company of Ethan and Meghan. I know their mom from the pre-school, and she was in need of someone to watch them during her three inservice days. So they came and spent those days with us. My kids were THRILLED to have new playmates. I tried to keep everyone busy, and scheduled an outing and/or activity each day.

On Wednesday we went mini-golfing. The best way to describe this outing is to liken it to herding cats. There were kids everywhere.

We ditched the rules and the scorecard and just had fun.

There was a fair amount of cheating............

Ok, there was a lot of cheating. Blatant, premeditated, unapologetic cheating. But they had fun. Except for Gabe, who spent most of his time worrying about the dogs he could hear barking at the groomer's next-door. *rolleyes here*

The next day we packed up the van with a cooler and all the beach gear and headed off to Canoe Creek. We basically had the whole puddle park to ourselves. It was actually pretty quiet and very peaceful. The kids played and swam and ate their picnic lunch. Afterwards we had ice cream or snow cones. It was a good day.

I've never seen a child roll in sand with such reckless abandon. I combed a ton of sand out of her hair and her mother reports she did the same later that night.

They giggled like crazy. Caroline wanted to buried, but refused to lie down in the sand. Meghan buried her legs instead.

Friday was a chilly and rainy day, so we stayed close to home. We watched movies and baked and decorated cookies. After lunch we popped popcorn. At this point they were all pretty comfortable with one another.

We had a lot of fun with Meghan and Ethan. We'll be sure to have them over again!
