Making Peace With Santa

The last time Gabe had any real interaction with Santa, it was 2004.  He was two-and-a-half years old.  He was not impressed.

Since then, we've been proud of him for waving to Santa from a distance and honestly, we've been pretty darn happy that he doesn't dissolve into a sobbing, screaming mess in the Big Guy's presence.  The past couple years he's stood within close proximity to Santa, and has seemed intrigued.

This year was different.  he asked to visit Santa.  He was bound and determined to sit on Santa's lap and recite his Christmas list.

So we did.  And he did.  And it was really quite touching.

He sweetly told Santa that he wants an iPad, and iPod and a Mini Cooper for Christmas.  Santa quietly listened, although seemed taken aback when the kid asked for a car.

The moment was over in a flash, but the photographer captured it perfectly.  I paid an exorbitant amount of money for that photo, and it was worth every last cent.

For the record, the other three kids were there as well.  Drew was too nervous he'd be told he was on the naughty list, Caroline only wanted to do it if Regina did, and Regina had a big case of the "oh-hell-no's".  So Gabe flew solo.

I'm glad he did.  He made it work.
