Kindergarten!

On Friday, Caroline and I visited Drew's (regular ed) kindergarten class. We were there for the postponed/rescheduled Valentine's Day party.

I was so proud of my boy! One would have never known he was a special ed. student in a regular ed. class. He followed directions, stayed on task and was a really really good listener. He introduced Caroline to everyone, and was very excited that we were there.

In the first picture, he and the other little boy were the first ones to follow the teacher's directions to "put their hands on their heads" while the craft directions were given. (This way they don't touch the items on their desk until after the directions are given!) The second picture shows him working on the craft, while Caroline supervises.

He's still having some behavioral issues in Autism Support in the morning. His behavior in the afternoon is spot on...perfect! We really think he is bored in the morning and more prone to troublesome behavior. Also, he is obviously modeling (undesirable) behaviors he sees there. Slowly but surely, he's getting there. We're very hopeful for a regular ed. first grade placement (with pull out services for speech and OT) next year.

he really is a great kid. He's got such a wonderful sense of humor and he's just so much fun.
