Touch A Truck

On Saturday there was a fund-raising event for a local charity held in the parking lot of the ballpark.  All kinds of different trucks and other vehicles were available for kids to climb on, pretend to drive and learn about.  The last hour of the event was a "quiet hour."  This meant there were no sirens and no horn honking.  This was very important to us, as sirens tend to freak Gabe right out.

The kids had a ball.  There were a lot of different companies and their vehicles represented.  We (and by 'we' I really mean Gabe.) were really wanting to see a Sheetz truck up close.  They opted not to participate.  Boo.  

The kids got to see trucks and vehicles from the fire department, an AMed ambulance, a PennDot snow plow, a WM garbage truck, landscaping equipment, a couple different trucks from New Enterprise, A Roaring Spring Bottled water delivery truck, a USPS truck, a Pennsylvania State Trooper cruiser, an Amtran bus, a People's Natural Gas utility truck and many many more.  It was a fun afternoon and the money was for a local charity.

 Gabe was so excited to be sitting on one of the Amtram buses.  He loves to watch these buses go up and down the street.

 They each took their turn on Steamer's four wheeler.  Drew and Caroline struck the Steamer pose.

 The boys trying out Ben's (the head groundskeeper) little tractor.  Pardon me, as I don't know all the correct names for these things.

 Drew driving the Roaring Spring Bottled Water truck.  It was the exact same truck that delivers our water every month.

 Caroline and Drew loved the ambulance.  Caroline actually said it was her favorite, as the paramedic really explained everything.

 Drew was the only one who wanted to drive the garbage truck.  I guess it took them four days to clean it up enough that it wouldn't smell.

 Drew in the firetruck.  Gabe wouldn't go near the ambulance or the firetruck because of their sirens.  I don't know why Caroline skipped this one.

 The boys in the big tractor.  It was a little high for Caroline's liking.

 All three really enjoyed the New Enterprise truck.  These guys were really nice as well.

 The BIG New enterprise truck was Gabe's other favorite.  It was the closest to the big trucks he likes to watch on the highway.   It was BIG.  The seat went up and down, and they all spent some time trying out that nifty trick.

 My criminals in the back of the Pennsylvania State Trooper's cruiser.  Drew did not realize he would be stuck in there after he closed the door.  I let them sit there a bit.....

 ...while Trooper Dave explained some of the buttons and computers to Caroline.

We finished the tour where we started, back on the bus.  This time Regina got in the act.  She was very clear about her displeasure about being stuck in the stroller.

It was fun, and for a good cause.  We'll definitely be participating again next year.
