Steve Lerud

One of Drew's favorite Curve players in Steve Lerud. Steve is the catcher, and wears number 15. Drew also wears number 15, for the Miracle League Curve. Obviously, in Drew's mind this means they are brothers-in-arms.

At the games, we sit in a section behind home plate. Drew pays close attention when Steve is playing. When we play ball he loves to assume the catcher's role when either Gabe or Caroline are batting.

He's been wanting to meet Steve, as he was quite concerned about him after he spent a couple weeks on the DL.

Today, Rob made that wish come true. Drew got to meet Steve Lerud.

He was so nice to Drew, who got so excited he couldn't speak right away. Steve was patient while Drew changed out of his church shirt and into his Miracle League jersey. He signed both Drew's ball and his jersey. (Sidenote: "Please God, don't let the signature come off in the wash. PLEASE. Amen.") I was able to snap only a few pictures. We didn't want to dominate Steve's time, as there is a pretty tight schedule down in the clubhouse before the games.

We got home, and Drew's favorite NASCAR driver (Jimmie Johnson) was leading the race. It's been a VERY good day in Drew's world.

I caught Drew mid-blink, getting his shirt signed.
